James Porter recently returned from Europe’s biggest business aviation event – EBACE. Which is a must-attend event in his eyes for anyone involved within the business aviation sector. Read his feedback below on the 2019 edition of the show.
“Business aviation continues changing right before our eyes, and here at EBACE, we have seen and touched the industry’s future”, commented Ed Bolen (National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO) as the 2019 edition of the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) came to a close.
EBACE annually attracts thousands of business aviation professionals from Europe and around the world, and 2019 was no exception. Almost 400 global exhibitors spanned three halls at the impressive Palexpo conference center in Geneva. They were gathered to promote their latest product innovations and service offerings to an audience of attendees from around 80 countries. Nearby, at Geneva Airport, the static aircraft display also featured debut outings from leading manufacturers such as Bombardier, with their Global 7500 making its post-certification debut also Embraer displayed their new Praetor 600 aircraft. Of the 58 aircraft on display, it was encouraging to report that 23 had arrived powered by sustainable alternative jet fuel (SAJF). The EBACE SAJF Fly-in was recognised by the show’s organisers and business aviation leaders as a positive demonstration of the industry’s commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. The aircraft in question had flown in from airports located in the UK, Europe and North America where alternative fuels for business aircraft are available.
Like many industry events, the need to innovate to continue to attract the industry’s elite saw the 2019 edition launching some new initiatives, such as the Innovation Pavilion, which showcased the latest developments within the industry. As always, education plays an important part of EBACE and the expanded Innovation Zone played host to a wide range of informative sessions for attendees looking to witness the latest cutting-edge concepts.
As regular attendees to the show, it was a chance for us to catch up with industry colleagues and keep up-to-date with where industry leaders see what the future of business aviation might look like. Of course the event couldn’t avoid the subject of Brexit, and there was a session on what the pending departure might mean for aviation, particularly business aviation. There were lots of positive discussions on how the industry was planning ahead of the 31st October deadline. However, this remains up in the air while the uncertainty around Brexit persists!
For us personally, the show was a success, and I have been following up on a number of leads since returning to the office across a number of different aspects of our comprehensive service offering. These include ownership structures and aircraft registration. On a final note, to quote the words once again of Mr Bolen: “EBACE 2019 provided a clear look at the future of business aviation, making the show more important than ever. We’re eager to come together next year and see the next stage in all these advancements.”
We for one look forward to the 2020 edition – when hopefully the uncertainty of Brexit will have been resolved!
