Knox House Trust (KHT) is pleased to announce that local charity The Children’s Centre raised £12,500 from their recent Race the Sun event.

The event which was supported by KHT, saw 26 teams (over 260 people) start at sunrise and finish before sunset to compete in this unique and gruelling relay running race.  The run covers 100 miles of the Isle of Man’s coastal footpath, Raad ny Foillan, which circumnavigates the whole Island, and has 10 sections which vary in length from between 6.5 miles to 12 miles.

Anthony Page, Managing Director of KHT said; “We were delighted to be involved with this fantastic event – it is a real community effort that raises valuable funds for a unique charity on the Island.  Everyone here at KHT feels proud that we were in a position to assist the charity and support them with the incredible work they do for children, young people and families within the Isle of Man.”

The funds raised will benefit the children, young people and their families who use the charitable services at the charity, and will also have a positive effect on the support the team can provide.  The charitable services team offer a tailored plan of support which would include access to family support, outdoor activities (Mobex) or activities at the Children’s Centre Farm.  Each case goes through a referral process to ensure that the care and support is meaningful and incisive to achieve a brighter future for the individual and their family.

Lisa Motley, Fundraising Team Leader from The Children’s Centre added her appreciation on behalf of the charity, commenting; “It was a fantastic event, the weather was great, if a bit warm at times but everyone seemed to enjoy the event and promised to be back next year.  These funds will have a real impact on the continuation of our much needed and valued services to families with additional needs.100% of the money raised goes towards The Children’s Centre charitable projects.”
